Modest is Hottest

Modest Is Hottest. What does that phrase even mean? Modest is literally the Hottest? Or modest is hottest because being modest means you know who you are? When it comes to dressing modestly there seems to always be an excuse, for example: "It is to hot to dress modestly," or "All the immodest clothes are way more cute." The list of excuses goes on and on, believe me, I have used them all.

The way we dress affects the different people who will be attracted to us... take a look at this...

You may chuckle or laugh at that but how true do you think it is? The different clothes you wear say a whole lot about who you are as an individual. You may get a lot of attention by dressing immodestly but is it really the attention you are looking to get? I would assume that the types of boys you want to attract would be good ones who can (If you are LDS) take you to the House of the Lord A.K.A The Temple!

I was curious about modesty from a boys point of view so I asked a few of my friends who are boys questions about modesty and here were some of their responses...

Question: "How does it make you feel when a girl is dressed immodestly?"

Answer 1: "hmm Just that I wish they weren't! A lot of the time I think to myself  it is much more attractive to dress modestly, immodesty is a turn off. I just wish they knew how special they are or that they showed more respect for themselves.  I feel bad that they feel like they need to get attention that way."

Answer 2: "First of all It's a total turn off. And depending on the severity it makes me feel uncomfortable to look at them. In my head I wish they would just get some more clothes on."

Answer 3: "That they have a low self esteem so they have to show more to impress us (boys)."

Question: "What would you want girls who dress immodestly to know?"

Answer 1: That they are attracting negative attention. That they don't need to dress that way to be beautiful or feel special. Maybe that Heavenly Father is disappointed when you lower your standards to please others. Also that they're hurting Young Men who should be preparing for missions!

Answer 2: "It doesn't improve the way you look"

Answer 3: "I would want them to know that they shouldn't compromise THEIR VIRTUE for popularity or fashion. And that dressing immodestly doesn't make them more pretty...In fact is does the opposite. I want them to know that MODEST IS HOTTEST. And guys like girls with high standards."

Question: "Why should a girl dress modestly?"

Answer 1: "It won't get them anywhere in life based on how they look. Your personality will."

Answer 2: "A girl should dress modestly to show that she has respect for her body. And she should dress modestly not only for herself, but also for the guys she surrounds herself with. Because different levels of modesty create different kinds of thoughts in a guys mind. So it really benefits both the guy and the girl."

Answer 3: "To feel more confident and receive more blessings for being obedient."

Question: "What does it say to you about a girl when you see her dressed modestly?"

Answer 1: "That she has respect for herself and that she tries to follow the prophet, if she is Mormon."

Answer 2: "When I see a girl dressed modestly I am INSTANTLY impressed! and it let's me know that she has high standards. If they are dressed modestly they are INSTANTLY MORE DESIRABLE. It says that she is different from most girls, and isn't afraid to choose the right."

So girls: According to the boys, What does the way you dress say about you?

The way we dress effects the Young Men we associate with in a lot more ways then we think. The way you dress can effect them in a positive way or a negative way. It is up to you to decide what type of message you want to send to them.

Elaine S. Dalton once said, "Modesty is often talked of in terms of dress and appearance, but modesty encompasses much more than the outward appearance. It is a condition of the heart. It is an outward manifestation of an inner knowledge and commitment. It is an expression [saying] that we understand our IDENTITY as CHILDREN OF GOD. It is an expression that we know what he expects us to do. It is a declaration of our covenant keeping."

A question to ask yourself: Am I living the way the Lord wants me to live?

Modesty and Virtue go hand in hand. One of the boys said that dressing immodestly is compromising your virtue. I agree with that 100 percent. By dressing modestly we are showing our Heavenly Father that we love him and that we know who we are: A CHILD OF GOD. If for anyone, dress modestly for yourself. When you are dressed modestly you have more confidence in yourself and when you have confidence you are more capable of helping uplift those around you. By showing people that you know who YOU are; which is a Daughter of Heavenly Father, they will start to see that in THEMSELVES.

Gordon B. Hinckley states: "Of all the creations of the almighty, THERE IS NONE MORE BEAUTIFUL, none more INSPIRING than a lovely Daughter of God who walks in VIRTUE with an understanding of why she should do so, who honors and respects her body as a thing sacred and divine, who cultivates her mind and constantly enlarges the horizon of her understanding, who nurtures her spirit with everlasting truth."

Do I have you convinced yet that MODEST IS THE HOTTEST?

What If I told you what Ryan Gosling thinks about girls who dress modestly?
